Why Fight Robots?
Combat robotics is an exhilarating and innovative engineering experience that combines elements of quality design, strategy, and competitive sport. Students design, build, and pilot machines for head-to-head boxing-style battles in enclosed bulletproof arenas across the world.

There is No Better Teacher than Destruction
ARC team members are faced with unique design challenges in creating robots that can survive in the arena: Combat robots are carefully refined to function through explosive impacts, presenting the ultimate challenge in designing for durability and serviceability.

Largest Open-Member Robotics Design Team at USC
Our program provides students with the opportunity to become familiarized with irreplicable robotics-specific skills, without any prior experience needed. Our PLANT program is teaches all new members the fundamental skills required for combat robotics.

Combines Engineering and Entertainment
Making repairs to heavily damaged combat robots in the thrill of the competition environment encourages ARC teammates to brainstorm solutions quickly and execute them with precision. Our best work is a result of the passion our members have for our work.
8
ARC has a branch of technical leaders in addition to the Executive Board. While the Executive Board manages our team as a whole, technical leadership is highly specialized in working on manufacturing, assembling, and testing our robots. Each technical lead oversees one of eight technical subteams.
TEAMS

Electronics
The electronics subteam manages the robot’s electronics, and has the responsibility of choosing the most effective electronic components given our robot’s configurations and needs, ensuring consistent connection between the robot and the driver’s controller, and debugging electrical issues.
Drivetrain/Chassis
The drivetrain subteam manages all aspects of the robot's drivetrain, including material selection for wheels and belts, wheel configuration, bearing specifications, motor selection, and part manufacturing.

Weapon
The weapons subteam manages all aspects of the robot's weapon system, optimizing weapon design for maximum kinetic energy transfer, efficiency, manufacturability, and survivability.
Armor
The armor subteam oversees the manufacturing and assembly of the robot's main frame and armor subassemblies, ensuring high-impact resistance and survivability.

Data Aquisition and Analysis (DAQ)
The Data Acquisition and Analysis subteam manages converting real-world signals and behaviors to the digital domain and simulating and optimizing objects when exposed to specific loads and flows of certain liquids and gases.
Business
The business subteam oversee administrative aspects of the club, identify and approach potential sponsors or partners, develop proposals, negotiate deals and produce all reports and other documentation.

Media
The media team is responsible for producing and distributing content on social media, creating promotional materials for events, coordinating photography and videography and ensuring effective communication with our audience.
Recruitment and Initiation
The recruitment and initiation team plan recruitment campaigns to attract new members and ensure that the onboarding process provides initiates with required information so they integrate smoothly into the team.
